Avon and Somerset Police have widened a CCTV appeal across four named Yeovil roads after a man suffered significant head and facial injuries in a late-night assault. The attacker has not been identified, and officers are asking residents, businesses and drivers to preserve and submit recordings that could help establish what happened.
The assault happened while the victim was walking between 11.50pm on Saturday, 25 July, and 12.05am on Sunday, 26 July. He was taken to hospital with significant wounds to his face and head, but police say he has since been discharged and is recovering.

The appeal covers St John’s Road, St Michael’s Avenue, Northbrook Road, the route towards Hawthorn Road and surrounding areas. Police have not confirmed one precise location for the attack, so enquiries are continuing to establish where it happened and how those involved moved through the area.
Investigators are trying to trace the route taken by the victim, as well as the movements of both the victim and the unidentified attacker. For that reason, footage does not need to show the assault itself to be useful. Recordings of people, vehicles or other activity could help officers build a timeline before and after the incident.
Residents who live in or near the roads are being asked to check home-security systems and doorbell cameras. Businesses may also hold relevant CCTV, while drivers are being asked to review dashcam recordings showing the named roads and nearby routes.
Police ask residents to preserve recordings
House-to-house enquiries have been completed and available CCTV has been examined. However, police have stressed that widening the search does not mean the assault was captured on camera. The force has not said that the attack appeared on any recording reviewed so far.
Anyone who finds potentially relevant footage should preserve it and pass it to officers. Residents and drivers are asked not to delete recordings or allow them to be overwritten, as material showing apparently ordinary activity could still help investigators establish the sequence of events.
