Yeovil housing plans changed: why the removal of Mudford Sock wetlands has sparked flood fears
Plans for the first 109 homes at the Oakmere Rise development north of Yeovil’s Mudford Road will replace planned constructed wetlands with attenuation ponds and reed-beds. Local groups fear the change could weaken flood protection, while councillors backing the scheme say the revised drainage system is more environmentally friendly and the development will deliver a 20% biodiversity net gain.
