A 41-year-old woman reported missing in Yeovil has been found safe with her family, Avon and Somerset Police have confirmed. The update ends a public appeal launched after Joanne was last seen on Sherborne Road at about 11am on Friday, 21 August.
Police had asked residents and other members of the public to share information that could help establish where she was. The force has now confirmed that the missing-person appeal has been resolved.
Details shared during the search
When the appeal was issued, officers warned that Joanne might appear confused if approached. She was described as approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall with short grey hair.
At the time she was reported missing, police said she was wearing a grey and pink T-shirt, blue harem trousers with an elephant print and white trainers.
Police also said Joanne had connections to both Yeovil and Somerton and frequently walked between the two locations. That information was shared to help identify anyone who might have encountered her while she was missing.
Appeal brought to an end
People with information had been asked to call 999 and quote reference number 5226236595, or contact Avon and Somerset Police on 101. Those contact details related to the appeal and are no longer needed now that officers have confirmed Joanne is safe.
Avon and Somerset Police thanked members of the public who shared the appeal and supported efforts to locate her.
No further details have been supplied about the circumstances of Joanne’s disappearance.
