A 41-year-old woman reported missing in Yeovil has been found safe with her family, Avon and Somerset Police has confirmed, bringing a police appeal for information to an end.
Joanne was last seen on Sherborne Road at about 11am on Friday, 21 August. Police had asked local residents and other members of the public to share information that could help establish where she was after her disappearance prompted a search.
The force thanked people who shared the missing-person appeal and supported efforts to locate her. No further details have been released about where Joanne was found, how she was located or what happened during the period she was missing.
What police said during the appeal
During the public appeal, officers said Joanne might appear confused if approached. Police also highlighted her links to both Yeovil and Somerton, explaining that she frequently walked between the two locations.
That information formed part of the search because she could have been walking or travelling between Somerton and Yeovil. People who believed they had seen or encountered her while she was missing were asked to contact Avon and Somerset Police.
Police described Joanne as approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, with short grey hair. She was believed to be wearing a grey and pink T-shirt, blue harem trousers with an elephant print and white trainers.
Appeal details no longer needed
While the appeal was active, people with information were asked to call 999 and quote reference number 5226236595, or contact Avon and Somerset Police on 101. Those details are no longer needed now that police have confirmed Joanne is safe.
The information released does not indicate that further action is required from local residents. Police have not provided a further account of Joanne’s movements after she was last seen on Sherborne Road.
Anyone who remains concerned would need to seek information from Avon and Somerset Police or Joanne’s family.
