A vacant unit at Yeovil’s Lynx Trading Estate could be transformed into a new health and wellness centre featuring a sauna, cold plunge baths, therapy rooms and an exercise area.
Plans have been submitted to Somerset Council for the proposed facility at Unit 9. The application was prepared by TJ Hawkins Architectural Design Consultants on behalf of Luke Ashworth.
What the plans include
The proposal involves internal alterations to create a sauna, cold plunge baths, therapy rooms, treatment rooms and an exercise area. The front of the building would also be changed, with the applicant saying the alterations would make the property more in keeping with the proposed business.
The application states that the unit was previously used as offices by Watertite heating services Yeovil. It is now vacant.
Planning decision and how to comment
The scheme will be considered by Somerset Council’s planning department. Residents and other interested parties can view the details and submit comments by visiting the council’s website and searching for planning application reference 26/01698/FUL.
The application says this type of business is becoming increasingly popular, while there are not many similar businesses in Yeovil and the surrounding areas. The submitted plans therefore propose reusing an empty commercial unit for a specialist health and wellness operation, subject to planning approval.
No opening date has been announced. The proposal remains at the planning stage and any future opening would depend on the council’s consideration of the application.
