Yeovil Town Women are set to join a new football and education pathway with Yeovil College from September 2027, giving female students the same type of opportunity already established for the club’s men’s team.
The partnership will combine study for a Level 3 BTEC in Sport Coaching & Development at Yeovil College with football coaching and competitive matches through Yeovil Town. The college said its earlier partnership with the men’s team had been an “overwhelming success” after being established two months ago.
A pathway for women’s football
Yeovil College principal and chief executive Mark Bolton said the expansion was intended to extend the football partnership beyond the men’s game. He said: “The response to our football partnership with Yeovil Town FC has been phenomenal and has clearly demonstrated the appetite and requirement for an ambitious football and education pathway in Somerset.”
He added: “It was always important to us that these opportunities extended beyond the men’s game. This next chapter reflects our shared commitment to equality of opportunity, raising aspirations and supporting the continued growth of women’s football.”
Yeovil Town chief operating officer Nicholas Brayne said the club was equally ambitious for women’s and girls’ football. He said the programme would allow young women to combine education with high-quality coaching and progress towards representing Yeovil Town.
Women’s team begins season at Huish Park
Yeovil Town Women will begin their new season against Portishead Town at Huish Park on Sunday, with kick-off at 2pm. The match will be the team’s first in the fifth tier of the women’s game, the South West Regional Women’s Football League Premier Division.
The announcement follows the integration of Yeovil Town Women into the club and adds a formal education route alongside their football development.
