Yeovil Town have made five changes for Tuesday night’s clash with Aldershot Town after illness, injuries and fixture congestion forced manager Billy Rowley to reshuffle his side.
Steve Walker missed the trip after coming down with flu, despite turning up at the team bus intending to travel. Ben Radcliffe is also unavailable with fluid on his knee, while Joy Mukena remains sidelined with a hamstring problem.
Injuries and rotation shape the team
Radcliffe has been named on the bench as an emergency option, while Luke McCormick has been rested as Yeovil manage a demanding run of matches that includes another fixture on Friday night.
“Macca playing three games in five or six days is probably not ideal, so this is a chance for, you know, for us to use the squad and and give some hungry lads a chance.”
Speaking ahead of the game in an interview with BBC Somerset’s Jack Killah, Rowley said Hayden Muller would operate in central midfield. He also outlined a flexible system capable of switching between a back three and a back four.
Rowley demands a sharper edge
The manager said Yeovil had created 14 chances in Saturday’s defeat by Fylde but failed to make them count. He wants a quick response from his players against an Aldershot side he expects to provide a physical test.
“By no means were we great, but they were unbelievably clinical… That’s the game, you’ve got to be more ruthless.”
Aldershot have been rebuilt under former Yeovil player Scott Davies. Rowley also pointed to the influence of returning former Shots players Ryan Janes and James Daly, backing them to make an impact on a wide pitch designed for wingers.
