Yeovil Town have kept faith with the starting XI that began Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with Worthing for today’s home match against Boston United.
Manager Billy Rowley has made no changes to the team, maintaining the same line-up as the Glovers look to build on what he considered a positive performance in midweek. The only addition to the matchday squad is defender Loick Ayina, who returns from suspension and starts on the substitutes’ bench.
Rowley explains unchanged selection
Speaking to BBC Somerset’s Ian Randall, Rowley said continuity was important and argued that a defeat should not automatically lead to wholesale changes.
“I think it’s important to give some of the lads continuity at times. If you win, you keep the same team; if you lose, you change your team. I don’t necessarily think we should always do that. I thought we played well against Worthing. I thought we could have scored two, maybe three goals in that game and won it. All of the lads played well and they finished on their backs, they showed a level of determination and care for the result to keep their spots. “I don’t see that we needed to massively change the game plan today, so a pat on the back for all of the lads and a chance for them to go out and sort of right the wrongs from Tuesday.“
Rowley said the performance against Worthing did not warrant a major alteration to the team or tactical approach. He also believed Yeovil had created enough opportunities to score two or three goals and take all three points.
The manager’s decision gives the players who featured against Worthing another opportunity to respond against Boston United. Ayina’s return provides an additional defensive option from the bench, while the unchanged starting line-up reflects Rowley’s view that the group showed enough determination and commitment to retain their places.
