Yeovil Town’s National League trip to Southend United on Saturday lunchtime will be overseen by referee Tolu Sangowawa, who is in his first season officiating in the division.
The appointment comes as the Glovers prepare for an away fixture at Southend. Sangowawa has never previously taken charge of either Yeovil Town or Southend United.
Sangowawa’s experience
The referee has spent the last few seasons working in the regional leagues. His most prominent appointment so far was the National League North play-off final between South Shields and Kidderminster.
He issued seven bookings during that final. His 2025/26 statistics currently stand at 20 matches, 62 yellow cards, three red cards and seven penalties.
This season, Sangowawa has also refereed Aldershot against Harrogate and Worthing against Wealdstone. Four players were booked in each match, while Wealdstone’s Dylan Kadji was dismissed after receiving a second yellow card.

Stuart Butler and Ryan Head will assist Sangowawa as the two assistant referees. Christopher Darling has been appointed as the fourth official.
The match is listed as Southend United FC’s first team against Yeovil Town FC’s first team and will be shown live on DAZN as part of the National League coverage.
