Yeovil Town welcome Solihull Moors to Huish Park on Friday night with the chance to move back into the National League’s top seven, although the Glovers’ immediate focus will be on building momentum after a turbulent spell.
Yeovil sit 10th going into the latest round of fixtures. A victory would lift them back into the top seven, at least temporarily, and extend the response to two consecutive defeats that was started by a 1-1 draw away at Aldershot in midweek.
That game saw Slavi Spasov put Yeovil ahead before Michee Efete equalised in the second half. The Glovers also spent an hour or more with 10 players after Loick Ayina was sent off.
Yeovil looking for another entertaining night
The Aldershot match ended a run of high-scoring Yeovil games. It was the first Glovers fixture with fewer than three goals since the home meeting with Carlisle on August 15, meaning supporters have regularly been given action at both ends of the pitch.
The Friday-night kick-off under the Huish Park lights is also being shown on DAZN, adding a broadcast element to a fixture that could have an immediate effect on Yeovil’s league position.
Ryan Jones is likely to attract particular attention after winning back-to-back Gloverscast Man of the Match awards. The winger has impressed on the right, combining with Archie Davies and Yeovil’s attacking players.
Jones has provided assists against Fylde and Southend and scored against Tamworth. His performances have increased his standing with supporters and made him one of Yeovil’s principal attacking threats.
Solihull bottom but not short of chances
Solihull Moors arrive at the foot of the National League table after eight matches. They have collected four points, scored eight goals and conceded 19.
Those figures do not necessarily reflect the way the Moors have played, according to the match preview. Solihull have dominated possession, created chances and led the shot statistics against several opponents, but have not received the results those performances might have produced.
The visitors recorded their first league victory of the season on Tuesday, beating Barrow 1-0 at home in front of fewer than 600 people. Scott High scored the second-half winner in a game in which both teams had a player sent off during the first half.
Solihull’s only other league point came away to Gateshead in a 1-1 draw at the beginning of September. They have also lost both of their matches in the National League Premier League Not A Real Cup thingymajig, going down to youth sides from Middlesbrough and Leeds.
Jacob Wakeling is the key attacking player identified for the visitors. The former Peterborough forward initially joined Solihull on loan last season, making 29 appearances and scoring nine goals. He has already scored four times in the current league campaign.
Wakeling’s contribution is particularly significant because Solihull have scored only eight goals as a team. He also scored twice at Huish Park on the chaotic final day of last season and will be looking to add to that total.
Familiar faces and recent history
Solihull are managed by Chris Millington, who joined the Midlands club in October 2025. His record in charge is listed as 14 wins, 12 draws and 21 defeats from 47 matches, a 29.8% win ratio.
Millington has won each of his last three meetings with Yeovil: one with Solihull and two 1-0 victories while he was manager of Halifax.
The clubs’ last meeting came on the final day of the 2025/26 season, when Solihull raced into a 3-0 lead inside 16 minutes before winning 4-1. Yeovil had more possession, shots, corners, shots on target and final-third entries in that match, but still ended the campaign with a heavy defeat and subsequently lost several players from that squad.
Yeovil won the reverse fixture 1-0, with Junior Morias scoring the only goal. The Glovers’ last home win against Solihull came in 2022, when Chiori Johnson scored the decisive goal.
There are also two links to Yeovil in the Solihull squad. Ben Wodskou, a Birmingham City striker on loan, scored twice in two matches before missing the win over Barrow. He had also missed a penalty in Solihull’s 2-1 defeat by Aldershot. Former Yeovil loanee Jamie Andrews is part of the Moors’ midfield.
Alan Dale is the appointed match official for the fixture. Yeovil will hope the combination of home advantage, Jones’ current form and the opportunity to return to the top seven produces a positive night at Huish Park.
