Yeovil Town return to the road this weekend for a challenging National League fixture against high-flying Kidderminster Harriers, with kick-off scheduled for 3pm on Saturday.
The Glovers travel to the Midlands after a mixed spell that included a defeat by Southend, a heavy loss at Fylde and a determined draw against Aldershot. Their most recent outing brought a return to winning form, however, as Yeovil recorded a 4-1 victory at Huish Park under the Friday night lights.
That result gave home supporters plenty to celebrate, although the preview notes that Yeovil have yet to win in the Saturday 3pm kick-off window this season. They have lost just once in that slot, drawing the other two matches.
Kidderminster arrive in strong form
Kidderminster have made an impressive start after promotion. Rather than concentrating solely on consolidation, the Harriers have pushed towards the top of the table and sit third, behind only Boreham Wood and Southend.
After losing their opening match of the season, Kidderminster went on an eight-game unbeaten run comprising five wins and three draws. That sequence ended last weekend when they drew 0-0 away to Woking in Surrey.
The result did not necessarily make the task easier for Yeovil. The preview highlights Kidderminster's record of responding to a draw with a victory, while the home side will also be looking to maintain its unbeaten run.
Goalkeepers and forwards in focus
Yeovil goalkeeper Jos Barker is identified as one of the key players for the visitors. The 22-year-old arrived during the summer after Jed Ward's outstanding previous campaign, leaving Barker with a difficult standard to match.
Despite that challenge, Barker is described as having made a strong impression. His size gives him a commanding presence in the penalty area, and his 71% save rate is credited with helping Yeovil collect extra points this season.
The main concern identified in the preview is the team's defensive record: Yeovil have kept only one clean sheet this campaign. The article stresses that this is a responsibility shared by the defence rather than resting solely on Barker.
Kidderminster's main threat is forward Lewis Walker, who joined the club in the summer after leaving Braintree. Following a difficult first appearance against Hornchurch, Walker returned to the starting line-up against Aldershot and scored his first goal for the Harriers.
He then scored four more goals in his next six games and added an assist. Although his output dipped across the two matches before this fixture, the preview says he continued to perform strongly. A familiar face in the Kidderminster dugout
Kidderminster are managed by former Yeovil player Paul Wotton. He first appeared for the Glovers during a loan spell from Southampton in the 2010/11 season, before joining permanently at the end of that campaign.
Wotton played 39 matches for Yeovil during the 2011/12 season. He is also known for a long playing career with Plymouth Argyle, where he made more than 400 appearances across 14 years during his first spell.
After moving into management, Wotton joined Truro in 2019 and spent five years there before taking charge of Torquay United. He later joined Kidderminster in May this year. In the two previous matches in which he has faced Yeovil, his teams have lost both.
This will be the first meeting between Yeovil Town and Kidderminster Harriers. There are no current Harriers players who have previously played for the Glovers, leaving Wotton as the main link between the two clubs.
