Yeovil Town delivered one of their most emphatic performances of the season as they defeated Boston United 6-0 at Huish Park on Saturday 3 October 2026. The Glovers scored four goals in 12 first-half minutes, added two more after the interval and moved up to fourth place in the National League Premier Division after 12 matches.

A total of 3,140 supporters watched the 3pm fixture, including 121 travelling fans. The match was played under cloudy skies, with the floodlights switched on during the second half, while the pitch was described as still looking good.

Yeovil make early pressure count

Yeovil began on the front foot, with Johl Powell forcing a save from Boston goalkeeper Luke Chadwick inside the opening minute after making a dangerous run into the penalty area. Chadwick was called into action again in the 17th minute, turning a Slavi Spasov header over the crossbar.

The home side then missed an opportunity that had been created by Archie Davies. Davies won the ball from Georgie Gent inside the box and squared it to Spasov, but the striker was unable to make proper contact with the chance.

Boston created danger of its own before the scoring began. On the half-hour mark, Yeovil goalkeeper Jos Barker got down to keep out Terrell Agyemang’s effort from the edge of the penalty area, the shot having travelled through a crowded group of players. Brett McGavin then saw an effort from a similar distance blocked at the other end.

Yeovil’s sustained pressing finally produced the opening goal after 34 minutes. Ryan Jones collected possession on the right, went past Gent and drove into the box before finishing beyond Chadwick. It was Jones’s third goal of the season.

Three minutes later, Yeovil doubled their advantage. Spasov supplied the pass to McGavin on the edge of the area, and the midfielder evaded the Boston defence before firing into the net.

The Glovers were now in complete control. Jones created the third goal with another run down the right, using a dummy to get beyond Gent before playing the ball across to James Daly. Daly struck across Chadwick and into the far corner in the 42nd minute.

Yeovil added a fourth in the second minute of first-half stoppage time. Jordan Norville-Williams sent a ball forward from the left for Powell, who continued his run when Boston looked for an offside decision. Powell played to the whistle and calmly slotted the finish past Chadwick.

At half-time, Yeovil led 4-0, with the home crowd applauding the players as they left the pitch.

Second-half changes bring two more goals

The Glovers continued to attack after the restart. Daly sent an opportunity wide two minutes into the half, while Jones then flashed another effort across the face of goal.

Yeovil boss Billy Rowley made a triple change on the hour, withdrawing three of the first-half scorers: Daly, Jones and McGavin. Mason Obeng, Charlie Lennon and Zain Westbrooke came on, and Ste Walker replaced Spasov after 69 minutes.

The substitutions did not reduce Yeovil’s threat. On 73 minutes, two of the new arrivals combined for the fifth goal. Obeng found Walker on the right and continued his run, before finishing the move to make it 5-0.

Powell completed the scoring three minutes later. He seized on a defensive error, entered the box and was brought down by Boston substitute Gavan Holohan. Powell took the resulting penalty himself and made no mistake, registering his second goal of the afternoon.

The result was met by a loud celebration at the final whistle. Boston supporters had begun to leave the away section, while Yeovil’s home support stayed engaged as the scoreline grew.

Owen Dean unveiled before kick-off

Before the match, Yeovil introduced new striker Owen Dean to supporters on the Huish Park pitch. Dean joined from National League South side Farnham Town for an undisclosed fee.

Yeovil’s goals came from Jones in the 34th minute, McGavin in the 37th, Daly in the 42nd, Powell in the second minute of stoppage time, Obeng in the 73rd and Powell from the penalty spot in the 76th.

James Daly and Jordan Norville-Williams were booked for Yeovil. Boston’s cautions went to Sai Sachdev, Jack Sutton and Connor McBride. The referee was Robert Massey-Ellis.

The result leaves the Glovers fourth in the National League Premier Division following 12 games, with the six-goal win providing a significant boost at Huish Park.
