Police are appealing for witnesses and video footage after a man suffered serious head and facial injuries during a late-night assault in Yeovil.

The attack happened between 11.50pm on Saturday, 25 July, and 12.05am on Sunday, 26 July, according to Avon and Somerset Police. The victim was walking along a route between St Michael’s Avenue and Hawthorn Road when he was attacked by an unknown assailant.

Police have not identified the exact location

Officers believe the assault took place somewhere along a path covering St John’s Road, St Michael’s Avenue and Northbrook Road. The exact point of the attack has not been identified in the police appeal.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment for significant facial and head wounds. He has since been discharged and is recovering.

Residents asked to check cameras

Avon and Somerset Police have carried out house-to-house enquiries and reviewed CCTV footage, but the investigation remains ongoing. Officers want to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and saw suspicious behaviour.

Residents, drivers and anyone else who was nearby are being asked to check recordings covering the relevant period, including footage from St John’s Road, St Michael’s Avenue, Northbrook Road and surrounding locations.

Police say potentially useful evidence could include footage from CCTV systems, doorbell cameras or dashcams. They are particularly interested in recordings made between late on Saturday, 25 July, and the early hours of Sunday, 26 July.
