Avon and Somerset Police are appealing for witnesses and video footage after a man suffered serious head and facial injuries in an assault in Yeovil during the early hours of Sunday, 26 July.
The victim was walking from St Michael’s Avenue towards Hawthorn Road when he was attacked by an unknown assailant. Police believe the incident happened between 11:50pm on Saturday, 25 July, and 12:05am on Sunday, 26 July.
Police investigation in Yeovil
Officers believe the assault took place along a route encompassing St John’s Road, St Michael’s Avenue and Northbrook Road. Police have asked people who were in the area during the short timeframe to think back to anything they may have seen or heard that could assist the investigation.
The man was taken to hospital for treatment for substantial facial and head injuries. He has since been discharged and is recovering, according to the appeal.
Avon and Somerset Police said their investigation remains ongoing. Enquiries include house-to-house work and the examination of CCTV footage from the area.
Appeal for CCTV and witnesses
Investigators are seeking recordings covering late Saturday night through to early Sunday morning. This includes CCTV from homes and businesses, doorbell-camera footage and dashcam recordings.
Police have specifically named St John’s Road, St Michael’s Avenue and Northbrook Road, as well as nearby streets, in their request. Residents and motorists with cameras are being asked to check whether their systems captured relevant activity, even if they are unsure whether a recording is connected to the assault.

a police spokesperson said.
There is no further information in the appeal about the identity of the victim or the unknown assailant. Police have not stated that an arrest has been made, and the investigation remains active.
