A 41-year-old woman reported missing in Yeovil after being last seen on Sherborne Road has been found safe with her family, Avon and Somerset Police has confirmed.

The police update brings the missing-person appeal to an end. Officers have not released further details about where Joanne was found, how she was located or what happened while she was missing.

When Joanne was last seen

Joanne was last seen at about 11am on Friday, 21 August, on Sherborne Road in Yeovil. Her disappearance prompted a search and an appeal for information from local residents and other members of the public.

During the appeal, police said Joanne might appear confused if approached. Officers also highlighted her links to Yeovil and Somerton, explaining that she frequently walked between the two locations.

That information formed part of the search because Joanne could have been walking or travelling between Somerton and Yeovil. People who believed they had seen or encountered her while she was missing were asked to contact Avon and Somerset Police.

Description issued during the appeal

Police described Joanne as approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, with short grey hair. She was believed to be wearing a grey and pink T-shirt, blue harem trousers with an elephant print and white trainers.

While the appeal was active, anyone with information was asked to call 999 and quote reference number 5226236595, or contact Avon and Somerset Police on 101. Those contact details are no longer needed now that the force has confirmed Joanne is safe.

Avon and Somerset Police thanked people who shared the missing-person appeal and supported efforts to locate her. The information released does not indicate that further action is required from local residents.

Police have not provided a further account of Joanne’s movements after she was last seen on Sherborne Road. Anyone who remains concerned would need to seek information from Avon and Somerset Police or Joanne’s family.
