A 41-year-old woman reported missing in Yeovil has been found safe with her family, Avon and Somerset Police have confirmed. The update ends the public search for Joanne, after officers asked people to help establish where she was.
Joanne was last seen on Sherborne Road at about 11am on Friday, 21 August. The appeal was issued after she was reported missing in Yeovil, with police asking residents and other members of the public to share any information that could assist the investigation.
Avon and Somerset Police said Joanne might appear confused if approached. Officers also highlighted her connections to Yeovil and Somerton, explaining that she frequently walked between the two locations. That information was intended to help identify anyone who might have seen her or encountered her during the period she was missing.
Details shared during the search
When the appeal was active, Joanne was described as approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, with short grey hair. Police said she was believed to be wearing a grey and pink T-shirt, blue harem trousers with an elephant print and white trainers.
The description was issued to help people recognise Joanne and pass relevant information to officers. The reference to Somerton formed part of the search information because she could have been travelling or walking between Somerton and Yeovil.
People who had information were previously asked to call 999 and quote reference number 5226236595, or to contact Avon and Somerset Police on 101. Those contact details are no longer needed now that the force has confirmed Joanne is safe.
Police thank people who shared the appeal
Avon and Somerset Police thanked members of the public who shared the missing-person appeal and supported efforts to locate Joanne. The force has not supplied further information about the circumstances of her disappearance, where she was found or what happened while she was missing.
The public appeal has therefore closed. There is no indication in the information released that further action is required from local residents, and anyone who may still have concerns would need to seek information from Avon and Somerset Police or Joanne’s family.
Yeovil Today first reported the missing-person appeal on 22 August 2026 and published an update on 23 August after police confirmed the case had been resolved. This report was published at 9pm on 23 August and updated at 12.40am on 24 August.
For now, the confirmed outcome is that Joanne has been found safe with her family. No further account has been provided about her movements after she was last seen on Sherborne Road or about the circumstances leading to her being reported missing.
