A 41-year-old woman reported missing in Yeovil has been found safe with her family, Avon and Somerset Police have confirmed. The update brings the public search for Joanne to an end.
Joanne was last seen on Sherborne Road at about 11am on Friday, 21 August. Yeovil Today first reported the missing-person appeal on 22 August 2026 and updated its report on 23 August after police confirmed that the case had been resolved.
What police told the public
During the search, Avon and Somerset Police asked residents and other members of the public to share any information that might help officers establish where Joanne was. Police warned that she might appear confused if approached.
Joanne was described as approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, with short grey hair. She was wearing a grey and pink T-shirt, blue harem trousers with an elephant print and white trainers when she was reported missing.
The description was issued to help people recognise Joanne and pass information to officers. Police also said she had connections to both Yeovil and Somerton and frequently walked between the two locations.
Appeal closed after safe return
The reference to Somerton was intended to help identify anyone who might have encountered Joanne while she was missing, including people travelling or walking between Yeovil and Somerton.
People with information had previously been asked to call 999 and quote reference number 5226236595, or contact Avon and Somerset Police on 101. Those contact details are no longer needed now that officers have confirmed Joanne is safe.
Avon and Somerset Police thanked members of the public who shared the appeal and supported efforts to locate her.
