A 21-year-old man is due to appear at Yeovil Magistrates’ Court next month after being charged in connection with a fatal collision on the A361 at Rode.
Alfie Seviour, of Frome, is accused of three offences relating to the death of passenger Alfie Belcher, who was 20. The collision happened on 17 January, and Mr Belcher was pronounced dead at the scene.
Charges authorised by the Crown Prosecution Service
The Crown Prosecution Service has authorised charges of causing death by dangerous driving, causing death by driving without due care while unfit through drink, and causing death by driving a vehicle while unlicensed and uninsured.
Mr Seviour is due to appear at Yeovil Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 6 October. The court hearing follows a police investigation into the collision.
Family being supported
Alfie Belcher’s family continue to be updated and supported by a specially trained family liaison officer, according to Avon and Somerset Police.
The police update was published on 17 September 2026. The case remains before the court, and the charges are allegations that have not been tested at trial.
