Yeovil Town captain Luke McCormick has spoken publicly about his prolonged absence from the first team, saying he has “never asked or wanted to leave” Huish Park.

The midfielder’s future at the club remains unclear after he said he had endured “a tough couple of weeks” and that “what happens next is out of my control”. McCormick’s comments were made in a social media post reported by Gloverscast.

Why McCormick has been missing

McCormick was named Yeovil Town captain for the season and scored six goals in his first eight matches. However, he was unexpectedly left out of the side for the win over Solihull on 18 September and has not been included in a matchday squad since.

The uncertainty follows Yeovil’s 6-0 victory over Boston at the weekend. Speaking afterwards, manager Billy Rowley confirmed that he and McCormick had been involved in a dispute.

“I’m never going to stand here and talk badly about any player, but the truth is Luke and I had a bit of a dispute,” Rowley said.

Rowley added that his responsibility was to make what he believed was the best decision for the team, saying McCormick “at the moment” would not be playing for him.

What happens next for the Yeovil captain?

Asked whether McCormick could return to the team in future, Rowley gave no firm indication.

“We’ll have to see, but at the moment, probably not,” he said.

McCormick’s message suggests that he remains uncertain about what comes next. The club has not provided a further outcome in the supplied material, leaving the captain’s position at Yeovil Town unresolved.
